Dummy

For some reason, I just wasn’t excited about Halloween this year. Don’t get me wrong, I did dress up, but I put minimal effort into it, and I didn’t go out to 6th Street like I usually do. When I saw that there was a Sinful Sunday photo competition for Halloween, I immediately thought of trying the usual horror ideas, like being a vampire, a zombie, or a witch, but I just wasn’t in the mood. Instead, this image started with a dark painting that hangs in our bedroom. I wanted to try to incorporate myself with it somehow, to become a sort of strange 3D extension of the artwork, and this is what I ended up with…

It may not exactly scream Halloween, but it is (hopefully) weird and a little creepy. Let me know what you think, and check out the other spooky and sexy images by clicking the icon below:

Update: “Dummy” won 2nd place in the Sinful Sunday Halloween competition; thanks so much Molly! See all of the winning photos by clicking the icon below:

I think it’s really great. One of those images that you just keep looking at. Well, and you look fantastic.

It might be good that you did something different, and this still reminds me of halloween… contemporary horror

  4. Emily says:

I also think this is great. The idea works very well, especially the way your hand merges with the background. Very disturbing. You have great taste in art!

I really like this. One of the reasons I used the Arthur Conan Doyle quote “Where there is no imagination, there is no horror.” in the theme prompt was to try to get people thinking outside the box so to speak. I think you have done that brilliantly. There is something strangely ‘weird’ and challenging about your image… one wonders who she is, why she is there… and what she wants!

Oh but it works Penny – it is brilliant and very imaginative. Definitely the cover illustration for “The Black & Decker Murders” if that is ever written. :)
